Firefighters Local 22 endorses Judy Moore over Councilman Brian O’Neill

International Association of Fire Fighters and Paramedics Local 22 on Monday endorsed Democrat Judy Moore, who is challenging City Councilman Brian O’Neill (R-10th dist.).

Moore

“When you’re looking at who will go above and beyond for the men and women who are putting their lives on the line every day to protect Philadelphians, the obvious choice is Judy Moore. She’s not a politician, she’s a born leader and a lifelong resident of Northeast Philly. If things are going to change in the Northeast, it’ll be because of her,” said Chuck McQuilkin, Local 22’s vice president.

Moore is an executive at Garces Events. O’Neill was first elected in 1979.

“I’m honored to get the firefighters endorsement,” Moore said. “As the wife of a man who puts his life on the line every day for our Northeast community, I can tell you that I will always be an outspoken advocate for Philadelphians who serve our city.”

This was Moore’s first endorsement from a union that often backs Republicans. Her other union endorsements have come from the left-leaning SEIU 1199C and 32BJ, UFCW 1776, AFSCME DC 47, Plumbers Local 690, Boilermakers Local 13, Transport Workers Local 234 and Communication Workers Local 13000.

Moore lives in Normandy with her kids and her husband, a Philadelphia police officer. ••
